Financial Conflict of Interest in Research

The Office of Human Research Protections (OHRP) issued guidance in 2004 on the management of financial conflict of interest in human participant research, following adverse events involving the deaths of human participants in clinical and medical research studies. . The document raises points to consider in determining whether specific financial interests in research affect the rights and welfare of human subjects and if so, what actions could protect those subjects.
