Principal Investigators must fill out the Initial Approval Request Form. The IRB Chair, or designee, may review on behalf of the full committee, and give expedited approval to particular types of protocols. (A list of examples of activities that qualify for Expedited review is available). Expedited protocols are reviewed as they are received (assuming all required materials have been submitted with the application and all members of the research team have completed human subjects training). A minimum of three weeks is required for expedited reviews and notification. (When the University is closed for holidays, please allow additional time for review, equivalent to the time Cornell is closed.) See instructions for completing the forms.
